Raised in the high desert of New Mexico and now based in Santa Barbara, California, INDIA creates atmospheric rock infused with soul, drawing inspiration from the contrast between our shadow selves and the light that always remains within us. After moving to Santa Barbara in high school, she unexpectedly found herself performing in a classic rock cover band, where she discovered a passion for music and live performance. Soon after, producer Noah Bruskin invited INDIA to record at Alan Parsons’ recording studio, inspiring her to begin writing songs of her own and ultimately leading to two years of songwriting, recording, and discovering her artistic voice.

Her debut single, “Storm Clouds,” explores themes of vulnerability and resilience, while her debut EP, Shadows of Light (releasing September 5), reflects on the quiet battles we face within ourselves and the hope that endures through them. Written during a deeply personal season of self-discovery, the project transforms struggle into songs that encourage listeners to find strength, healing, and light within themselves. On Friday, September 5, INDIA will celebrate the release of Shadows of Light with an EP release show at Mollusk Surf Shop in Santa Barbara’s Funk Zone, bringing together live music, local artists, handmade artwork, and community in celebration of Santa Barbara’s creative spirit.
